karma points
its kinda like a reputation system, which allows player to "earn" points by helping put other players. like doing a mission with low lvl. poeple, just to help them out.
also, every player would be able to give ONE single karma point per day to ANOTHER player, who has been nice to him.
you could introduce multiple titles in the character screen, depending on how many points you collected this way.
---
well maybe my "idea" isnt perfect, but i think ANET needs to make clear that "helping out, pays out" and the karma system would motivate more player, to be nice.
just my two cents

ok, for your reading assignment, go look up slashdot.org and kuro5hin.org, and find out why karma points is a failed experiment.

I think some will even judge you by your grammar. I have 100K in my stash. Maybe by giving everybody 1K, they get to like me more.
To be short; Stupid system.

I used to belong to forum that had this system, too. What ends up happening is that people rate those they like high, those they don't recognize neutral or low, those who have a different opinion from theirs low, etc. There was no objectivity. All a high rating meant was "a popular regular". It didn't mean diddlysquat in terms of whether the person's post was meaningful in any way. So I'd hate to see something like that implemented in GW.

The ammount of people who have attempted to scam me lately has increased by an easily noticable ammount since I started playing.
At least 3 times a day I see someone scamming.

I've been seeing an age old scam lately, especially in the AB.....
some guy, (usually on the opposing team) will go:
"ALT F4 TO START THE ROUND"
and then you'll see....
Player X has left the game
Player Y has left the game
Player Z has left the game
.... the fact that people still fall for this just baffles the mind
seriously, the early nineties called... it wants it's scam back.

in my not humble opinion, anyone who hits Alt F4 at the beginning of a round deserves exactly what they get. And if it happens to them twice they deserve it even more... if it happens to them three times they should spend more time learning things and less time playing games.
One of my favorite jokes in PvP was to say: "secret code: Press Alt-F4 to restart your PC"
Sets a nice friendly environment because most people can understand what I'm making fun of.

It is the oldest scam in the world. Convincing your opponents to press Alt F4. Some people will even sell their souls to get an easy victory. When someone in my party even mentions it, they instantly appear on my ignore list.
I never fell for it, but I hate every form of scamming or lamerism.
It actually looks like a last desperate try to get away from a good honest battle.

Hear hear!
The thing is there is always some nut who will continue to spam it throughout the battle, I see this often in HoH and Alliance Battles.
It's stupid, a only serves to spoil the game for both sides, anyone doing this should rethink their gameplay or quit from PvP.

Saw the "Press Alt+F4 to get your mask" message so many times during the dragon festival while the emperor was there talking.
What do people get out of that? I sure don't know.

Because for every single online game in the world, some people's idea of 'fun' is to try and upset and spoil the fun of others.
Sad but true.

I have one good use for the Alt+F4 trick (for Ascalon City, mostly):
ATTENTION ALL BEGGARS: I am sending you money now, hold Alt and press F4 to accept it
Suddenly the local chat is almost bearable.

While you are at it, can you give me 50G, so I can open up a storage. Please don't force me to go out and do quests. There are big monsters out there man!
I bough Guild Wars just to dance nekkid in town, and my F4 button doesn't work

Iono, the ALT+F4 thing is amusing to see when you see people start to disappear, was really amusing to see it the first time, but yeah, if I see it all the time, its extremely annoying(and besides the people that did ALT+F4 most likely were a liability to the team)
Oh, but one thing comes to mind of poor behavior, If you goto the temple of balth, you will 9/10 times see people cussing at each other, tossing insults around, and pretty much anything else you can think of.

Needed a good laugh this morning alt+f4 scam, it’s one of the oldest joke’s to play on someone since day one of key board short cuts.
Quote:
Keyboard shortcuts for Windows
F1: Help
• CTRL+ESC: Open Start menu
• ALT+TAB: Switch between open programs
• ALT+F4: Quit program
• SHIFT+DELETE: Delete item permanently
|
I'm going to report you for alt+f4 scam

well the first time you see the alt f4 you don't relize what it does unless you know the shortcuts. Like when i played another online game i didn't know what it did, so i did it and i got mad.
Saying They "deserve it" is like saying Someone convinced someone to jump off a cliff, the one person deserve to go splat? Not really, and don't think that hasn't happened before... cults anyone?

when i see it done to someone else: i giggle.
when i see someone trying to get me to do it: i roll my eyes and laugh at them.
i mean, come on, it's silly, it's funny, it's relatively harmless, and most people won't fall for it twice...

It is of the same intelligence as the "Pull my finger" joke, but that is what you get when you play a game even a nine year old can join.
